High school hip hop musical celebrates love in pandemic times

A virus may limit our lifestyle, but it can’t limit the human heart. That’s the message behind ‘Love in the Time of Corona,’ a Luther College High School musical that debuts online Wednesday evening, June 2.

The socially distanced musical uses hip hop to express an extraordinary high school year. Directed by teacher Kris Dueck, the pre-recorded performance will be unveiled at 7 p.m. on YouTube.

“Boomers be linin’ up to buy toilet paper,” go the lyrics. “My millennial aunt is still a rule breaker. And My gen x parents take thing seriously. And because of them, me gen z’s are quarenteen’s.”

The musical is co-sponsored by Saskatchewan Public Interest Theatre and the Regina Public Interest Research Group.
